Volunteering

Historic Dunvegan is always looking for volunteers of all ages: individuals, retirees, families, teachers (seasonal), and students. Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, increase your knowledge, and have fun. Volunteer positions are often seasonal (May – September) but long-term positions may be available.

Examples of short-term volunteer positions:

  • Assisting with Special Events and Programs
  • Amphitheatre Performer
  • Craft Demonstrator
  • Nature Walk Leader

Our volunteers are greatly valued and allow us to offer more programs and experiences to the public. Please contact us for more information.

Help us preserve and interpret Historic Dunvegan!

Historic Dunvegan is looking for artifacts to furnish our historic buildings to represent their original appearance between 1890 and 1914.

Artifacts are carefully selected to furnish the historic buildings so they look the same as they did in the past. Some of the furnishings are original to the buildings while others are chosen to represent these original furnishings. Even items in poor condition, if rare, may provide valuable information to help us furnish the buildings accurately. In some instances, objects are borrowed so they can be documented and reproduced.

While many items are needed, we are not able to accept everything. If you have an item that you think will help us furnish the historic buildings, let us know and we will tell you if it meets the specific furnishing requirements.

Potential donors should contact our curator by telephone or email to discuss the criteria for donating artifacts into the collection. It is recommended you attach a photo of your item to your email.

If you are interested in donating historic items, or have items to show, please contact:
